HOW IT WORKS?
We work with your child’s teacher to provide the best guidance for our program courses.
1. REGISTRATION
Once registered, students are administered a diagnostic assessment* in order to isolate the skill(s) and concept(s) that need to be addressed, and to determine which course(s) will be a good match.
2. CONSULTATION
Upon parental approval, a 20-minute phone or Zoom consultation between the tutor and the student’s classroom teacher is scheduled.
3. TUTORING SESSIONS
The duration of each course ranges from 7-10 weeks. Our instructors meet with students twice a week for one hour per session, based on a schedule that is convenient for the families. The standards-based lessons are differentiated for each student, and instructors keep track of the learning progress to inform instruction and adjust strategies accordingly.
4. PROGRESS MONITORING
Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning by keeping track of their improvement in their ``Progress Journal`` notebooks (included in their toolkit). Instructors monitor and evaluate student progress and use the data to help guide their instruction and strategies.
5. COMPLETION
Upon completion of each course, students are administered a post-test to determine content mastery. A follow-up meeting is scheduled with the parent (and teacher if requested) to decide on next steps and to discuss suggestions for subsequent courses, if any.
* The easyCBM assessment is approved by the California Department of Education, and meets the requirements of EC Section 60644 as being aligned with the Common Core State Standards.
